This is due to a bug in the CDROM driver code executed at boot time. INSTALL: mv /sys/sun3/OBJ/sr.o /sys/sun3/OBJ/sr.o.FCS cp sun3/sr.o /sys/sun3/OBJ/sr.o Regen the kernel and reboot with the new kernel.
