This distribution is in a new, hopefully improved, format.
If this tape is a 2400 foot reel, we have included all previous
distributions on the tape as well as the current release (3). To
accommodate this on one tape, all files have been archived. For
example, all the files submitted by Brooklyn College for distri-
bution two will be found in
                        2/bklyn/cont.a
on the tape. The file "contents" is a listing of all the files
you would get if you de-archived everything.

The "new archiver", an executable copy of which is to be
found on the tape as "newarch", should be installed in /usr/bin
and used to obtain the archived files.

The files "setup_?" are shells to create all needed direc-
tories for running tp or stp to extract the archives. The files
"remove_?" will remove all empty directories in this hierarchy
created by "setup_?". Both work silently.

This tape was written using the improved tm-driver and
"stpnew" to be found in "3/harv".

The procedure for using this tape is:
               1. tp or stp x setup_1 setup_2 .. remove_1 .. contents
               2. pr contents
               3. Having decided that you want to extract the files
                  in 3/abc, execute
                           sh setup_3
                           tp or stp x 3/abc
                           chdir 3/abc
                           newarch x cont.a
                           rm cont.a
                           chdir "parent of 3"
                           sh remove_3

If you have the space and want to de-archive all of a particular
distribution, the shell files "dearch_?" will do it, once every-
thing has been extracted from the tape. In order to execute any
of the dearch_? shell files, the file xtract.sh must be placed in
the current directory.

Finally, if we have an executed Harvard License on file and
if there is room on your tape, the directory "h" contains the
newest (July 1977) release of the HRSTS system. We have also in-
cluded the old Toronto release in the directory "t" if it was re-
quested from a Toronto licensee.
