   3. Reinstalling the Windows Spock Driver

 1. BEFORE YOU START

You need a MicroChannel machine with an IBM SCSI host adapter and the
   Windows 95/98 operating system.

The SPOCK-206 driver is an UPDATE of the Windows SPOCK driver. You must
have the Windows 95/98 SPOCK driver installed before you update it with
   SPOCK-206.

Two separate sets of drivers are provided, for use on Windows 95 or
   Windows 98/98SE.

Unpack the contents of SPOCK206.ZIP in a directory or on a diskette.
You should have the following files:

README TXT -- Driver information and test reports
     INSTALL TXT -- Installation instructions

     WIN95 <DIR> -- Windows 95 drivers
SPOCK206 INF Windows driver installation INF file
       SPOCK2 MPD SPOCK-206 Miniport Driver
SPOCK2B MPD SPOCK-206 Miniport Driver with Disk Activity Light
SPOCK2C MPD SPOCK-206 Miniport Driver with LED Display Monitor

     WIN98 <DIR> -- Windows 98/98SE drivers
SPOCK206 INF Windows driver installation INF file
       SPOCK2 MPD SPOCK-206 Miniport Driver
SPOCK2B MPD SPOCK-206 Miniport Driver with Disk Activity Light
SPOCK2C MPD SPOCK-206 Miniport Driver with LED Display Monitor

To differentiate between the Windows SPOCK driver and the SPOCK-206
driver, the driver description has been defined as:

IBM MCA SCSI SPOCK-206 = IBM MCA SCSI Host Adapter on SPOCK-206
IBM MCA SCSI SPOCK-206 DISK LIGHT = Same as above, with disk light enabled
IBM MCA SCSI SPOCK-206 LED DISPLAY = Same as above, with LED Display Panel
IBM MCA-SCSI-Hostadapter = This is the Windows driver.

NOTE: SPOCK-206 can manage the disk light on your machine to indicate
communications with the SCSI host adapter. The disk activity light in
such cases does not necessarily imply your fixed disks are being accessed.

Select "IBM MCA SCSI SPOCK-206 DISK LIGHT" at installation time if you wish
the driver to manage the disk activity light. You may experience a slight
decrease in the transfer rates of about 1% of the total transfer rate.

Select "IBM MCA SCSI SPOCK-206" at installation time if you wish to disable
the disk activity light. This version will NOT manage the disk light on your
   machine.

Select "IBM MCA SCSI SPOCK-206 LED DISPLAY" at installation time if you wish
to monitor the Windows driver loading progress on the LED Display Panel of the
   IBM PS/2 Server 95.

See README.TXT for the list of driver status messages.

 2. DRIVER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Click Start, then Settings, then Control Panel.

   Start the "System" applet program.

   Select the "Device Manager" tab.

Select the "SCSI Controller" node in the device tree.

   Select the "IBM MCA-SCSI-Hostadapter" entry.

   Push the "Properties" button.

   Select "Driver" tab.

   Push the "Another Driver" button.

Push the "Have Disk" button and press "OK".

Specify the path to the driver files and press the <ENTER> key.

   - If installing on Windows 95 select the subdirectory WIN95
     from the driver disk.

   - If installing on Windows 98/98SE select the subdirectory WIN98
     from the driver disk.

Example 1: Insert the drivers disk in the A: floppy drive,
                  and enter A:\.

Example 2: Type in the name of the directory where you copied
the drivers, either on your local hard drive or
                  on a network share.

Example 3: If you're not sure exactly where the drivers are,
choose the "Browse..." button and find them.

The "Select Device" dialog box will appear. Select the adapter that
corresponds to the one you installed in your machine and click OK.

Windows will copy the miniport driver to the proper directory
   on your system.

Continue choosing Close until asked to restart your machine from the
   "Systems Settings Change" dialog box.

After the system has restarted, you can go back to the Device Manager
   and check the driver settings.

 3. REINSTALLING THE WINDOWS SPOCK DRIVER

To reinstall the default Windows Spock driver, perform the SPOCK-206
   installation procedure described above.

This time select the "IBM MCA SCSI SPOCK-206" entry.

After the "Have Disk" step, select "IBM MCA-SCSI-Hostadapter" from the
   list of suggested drivers.

Windows will reinstall the Spock driver. Restart your machine to apply
   the changes.

END.
