The Seagate ST1236J is a E-SMD hard disk with a capacity of 1 GB. The platterns are 8 inches in diameter. The ST1236J has a high throughput and low access times. Bonnie showed a filesystem throughput of 2.5 MB/sec with a Rimfire on the 3/470.
Both disks have more than 256 defects. Unfortunately SunOS's format program can't handle more than 255 defects. rfutil, the tool for the Rimfire has no problems with that many defects.
