Set and View SCSI Devices
For Models 85, 90, 95 and 500. Other models similar. All
this was extracted from the latest Type 4 Ref disk. If you do not see some
of these fields in your Set and View SCSI Devices, you may not have the
hardware that supports that feature.
I have yet to check the FW Support Disk that updates the
system partitions. This may change some.
To start the Set Configuration Program:
1. Start the system programs.
2. Select Set configuration from the Main Menu.
3. Select Set and view SCSI device configuration.
NOTE:
You can change only those settings enclosed by brackets
([...]) and which have not been
automatically set by the system.
You can change the SCSI adapter ID; however, other SCSI
device IDs are set by the system and cannot be changed from this screen.
Most SCSI devices, except adapters and built-in controllers, use jumpers
or switches to set the ID.

SCSI Configuration
Verification
When SCSI Configuration Verification is disabled, no error
is reported if a previously configured device does not respond when the
system is started (because the device is turned off or removed). Physical-drive
letters are preserved, but logical-drive letters might be changed.
When the system is started, if SCSI Configuration Verification
is disabled, the SCSI device table contains the devices that were previously
configured and the devices that are currently installed and turned on.

IBM PS/2 SCSI Adapter w/Cache - 0KB Cache
Note: If you try non-compatible
30 pin SIMMs, you will see this. But after you replace them and reconfigure
SCSI devices, the SCSI adapter will see the correct memory.
SCSI Adapter
Address (ID)
Changes the SCSI ID of the adapter. Under normal circumstances,
select <7>. This SCSI ID must be different than the SCSI device IDs
of any devices that are attached to the adapter. If there is a conflict
with a device attached to the adapter, the SCSI configuration will not
be saved.
The asterisk (*) indicates if the SCSI ID is selected,
it will be in conflict with a device attached to the adapter. If
there is a conflict, the SCSI configuration will not be saved.

No floppy? Could be why my Teac FD235HS-7xx isn't recognized...
Device
Address (ID, LUN)
Shows the SCSI device ID and the logical unit number of
the device (ID, LUN). Every device attached to one adapter must have
a unique SCSI device ID. This ID must be different than the SCSI
ID for the adapter. The SCSI device ID for the device is the ID switch
setting on the device.
INTERNAL
Device Address (ID, LUN)
Shows the SCSI Interface Connection, device ID and the
logical unit number of the device (ID, LUN). Each device attached to the
INTERNAL interface must have a unique SCSI device ID. The SCSI device ID
for the device is the ID switch setting on the device.
EXTERNAL
Device Address (ID, LUN)
Shows the SCSI Interface Connection, device ID and the
logical unit number of the device (ID, LUN). Each device attached to the
EXTERNAL interface must have a unique SCSI device ID. The SCSI device ID
for the device is the ID switch setting on the device.
Device Size
Size of the SCSI hard disk. If the size can't be determined,
then this field displays ???????MB.
Device Interface
Shows the interface connection of the SCSI device. Internal
or External
Presence
Error Reporting
Set this field to <ENABLED>, if you want a POST error
to display when the system is started, and this SCSI device is turned off
or not connected.
Set this field to <DISABLED>, if you do not want a
POST error to display when the system is started, and this SCSI device
is turned off or not connected. (Useful for scanners!)
Operational
Error Reporting
Set this to <ENABLED>, if you want a POST error to
display when the system is started, and this SCSI device has any operational
error.
Set this to <DISABLED>, if you want the system to continue
the power-on process even though this SCSI device has any operational error.
Start-up Device
Set this to <ENABLED> if this device can be started-up
with the operation system or set to <DISABLED> if this device cannot
be started-up with the operating system.
Not Present
Set this to <KEEP>, if you want to save the configuration
information for this device even when the device is turned off or not connected.
Set this to <REMOVE>, if you do not want to save the
configuration information for this device even when the device is turned
off or not connected.
Limitations
(man's got to understand his limits)
95 Planar Max
SCSI Adapters
If there are more than eight SCSI adapters installed, only the first
eight enabled adapters (starting from slot one) will be configured.
Any devices attached to the additional adapters will not be configured.
(the 90 won't hit this)
85 Planar Max
SCSI Adapters
If there are more than seven SCSI adapters installed, only the system
board SCSI and the first seven enabled adapters (starting from slot one)
will be configured. Any devices attached to the additional adapters
will not be configured.
>15 devices
on a F/W
If more than 15 devices are attached to one SCSI adapter or the system
board SCSI connector, only the first 15 devices will be configured.
Maximum Viewable
SCSI Devices
For Narrow SCSI, if >60 devices are installed the menu will be abbreviated.
For wide SCSI, if >100 devices are installed the menu cannot be displayed.
(Due to memory constaints).
