There are 3 flavors of S26 systems: 3426-75xx = S26 P5 systems 3426-76xx = S26XL P6 (PPro) systems 3426-8xxx = S26 PII systems The temperature patch was intended for only early S26 P6 systems (3426-76xx) that have NCR Server Manager 4.2 or 5.0 installed. S26 P6 shipped in 1H97 with NCR SM should increase the temperature limit. Systems with Server Manager 5.1 and beyond can modify the temperature limits from the Server Manager menus. This patch is needed for some earlier S26 units that recorded occasional temperatures between 75C and 80C. For these units, Server Manager would generate temperature alerts and shut down the systems. The S26 units are certified at up to 80C. Later units do not experience temperatures above than 75C. S26TEMPW.EXE - utility to increase the warning temperature from 55C to 60C for warning message actions. This utility runs with SM 4.2 and 5.0. S26TEMPC.EXE - utility to increase the critical temperature from 75C to 80C for shutdown actions. This utility only runs with SM 4.2. >>>>>The s26tempw.exe utility displays the following text when executed: ***************************************************************** NCR S26 CPU Warning Temperature Patch ***************************************************************** This Patch will change the current CPU Warning Temperature by 5 degrees Celsius. Each execution of this program will toggle the CPU Warning temperature between the original temperature, 55C, and the Patch temperature, 60C. The Current CPU Warning Temperature is 55C, the orginal temperature. Please select one of the following options: 1) Change the CPU Warning Temperature of 55C to 60C. 2) Exit the program.
