DFWIBM 1.2 IBM Disk Firmware Flash Utility to REV S96H NOTE: All references to channel 1 refer to first channel or SCSI-A. 1. Execute DFWIBM.EXE on Windows or DOS system. It will ask for a floppy disk be inserted into a standard 3 1/2 " Floppy Drive. (will not extract to LS-120 high capacity floppy drive) 2. Determine the type of system you have and what controller the IBM Hard drives are attached to. 3. Action to take depending on configuration: A. If any drives are not an IBM DSST or PSST drive, you will need to removed drive from SCSI bus. If non-IBM drives are attached to AMI MegaRAID controller, do not use AMI to flash drives. Remove AMI controller and hook drives to onboard controller. B. If drives are attached to S27/28 on-board LSI SCSI controller, you will need to determine which HBA drives are attached. Once you determine which HBA the drives are hooked to, use this to select correct HBA when you boot from disk. The HBA is displayed during POST on LSI initilization. Flashing from S80 to S96 on on-board LSI SCSI controller may take more than one boot to flash all disks. Verify during POST that Drives is flashed to S96H. If not boot from disk again. C. If drives are attached to both channels of AMI MegaRAID adapter, you will need to boot twice. Select channel 1 for first boot and channel 2 on second boot. 4. Boot from diskette and select appropriate option. It will be one of the following: Drives on Channel 1 of AMI MegaRAID controller Drives on Channel 2 of AMI MegaRAID controller Drives on Channel 1 (A) of S25 through onboard Adaptec 7896 Drives on Channel 2 (B) of S25 through onboard Adaptec 7896 Drives on 4455 through Channel 1 of onboard Adaptec 7899 Drives on 4455 through both Channels of onboard Adaptec 7899 S27/S28 through HBA 0 of onboard LSI SCSI Driver S27/S28 through HBA 1 of on-board LSI SCSI Driver S27/S28 through Channel 1 (SCSI-A) of add-on Adaptec U160 Adapter 5. It will flash all drives and list Data and time of all drives flashed. Verify that all disks were flashed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Changes with version 1.2 Changes - added channel 2 (b) for AMI MegaRAID Changes with version 1.1 Fixes - fixed issue of flashing through Channel 1 (a) of S25.
