Seagate STT20000N Travan tape drive firmware version 7A51 On MP-RAS systems with a Seagate STT20000N Travan tape drive, firmware version 7A51 must be used. Drives with a newer version of firmware (such as 7A61) can experience SCSI timeouts. If you are not running MP-RAS, you do not need to use firmware version 7A51. If you are running MP-RAS and you have a Seagate STT20000N Travan tape drive, you should run "prtconf -T" to find the firmware version of your tape drive. If the version is not 7A51, you should perform the following steps: 1. If the Pramd and fidl packages are not already installed, you should install them from the MP-RAS Core CD. The kernel will need to be relinked and the system will need to be rebooted after installing Pramd. 2. Download and install the latest version of PFIDL302 (version 07.10.17.06 or later) from the MP-RAS patch web site. 3. Download the 7A51.bin file from this web site, and copy it to /tmp/7A51.bin on your MP-RAS system. 4. If there is a tape in the drive, remove the tape from the drive. 5. Run "fidl -d /dev/rmt/cXtXdXs0 -i /tmp/7A51.bin" (replacing "cXtXdXs0" with the name of your tape drive). This may take a few minutes to complete. 6. Run "/usr/sadm/sysadm/bin/mktable". This may take a few minutes to complete. 7. Run "prtconf -T" to verify that the firmware version is now 7A51.
